A Guide to Your First Appointment

  • The first appointment is an intake session that usually lasts about 2 hours. During your first session, your practitioner will spend time getting to know you and your health concerns. You may be asked a wide range of questions about your symptoms, eating habits, exercise, sleep habits, emotional states and anything that may offer insight into your health. A physical exam and Chinese diagnosis may take place, if time allows. Otherwise, this will happen in your follow-up visit.

    Helpful Items (if applicable):

    • A list of your current medications and supplements with dosages and frequency.

    • Copies of medical records

    • Family medical history

  • These are usually 1 hour. We review your concerns and goals, noting any changes in your health. Then we proceed with your own personalized treatment plan.

  • True healing can take time and dedication. Depending on your current health and symptoms, you could feel better right away, or you may need treatment for weeks, months or years to achieve the results you want. Your actions are a key component of your treatment plan. Focusing on your health and committing to a healthy lifestyle are the most effective steps you can take to improve your well-being. Together, you and your practitioner can identify the root cause(s) of your concern and help you achieve harmony and balance. Even after your symptoms are resolved, continued care can assist you in maintaining your health, and possibly preventing future imbalances.

  • To get the most out of your visit, please:

    • Show up on time

    • Avoid scented products

    • Refrain from caffeine, alcohol, tobacco, and illicit/recreational drugs (including marijuana)

    • Wear comfortable, loose clothing

    • Stay well-hydrated and well-nourished

    • Avoid exposure to excessive hot or cold temperatures such as hot tubs, steam rooms, saunas, or cold plunges for at least 6 hours post-treatment

    • Do not postpone your appointments, as each visit builds upon the previous ones

  • Patients are usually seen weekly until symptoms improve and balance is achieved. Then treatments can be spread out every 2 weeks, 3 weeks, monthly, and then seasonally. Generally, treatments are spread out in a manner that helps patients maintain a sense of balance for the duration of time between sessions. Each individual is unique and your response to treatment will vary based on the depth and duration of your concern(s).
